Network discovery

Network discovery uses SNMP to find and map devices on your network. It gives you visibility into switches, routers, firewalls, access points, printers, and other infrastructure that cannot run the agent.

Network features require a paid plan.

How discovery works

One enrolled device per site acts as a network probe. The probe scans its local network and reports what it finds. Discovery runs automatically and results update regularly.

Topology view

The Network > Topology page shows a visual graph of discovered devices and their connections. Each node represents a device with:

  • Hostname or IP address

  • Device role (switch, router, firewall, access point, server, workstation, printer, phone, other)

  • Connection lines showing network links

Click any node to view its details. Filter the view by site.

SNMP monitoring

For devices that support SNMP, you can collect additional metrics beyond what discovery provides.

SNMP targets

Go to a site's SNMP page to add SNMP targets. Each target needs:

  • IP address or hostname

  • SNMP community string (v2c) or credentials (v3)

  • Polling interval

OID library

concorbit RMM includes a built-in OID library with common metrics for popular vendors. Browse the library to find metrics for your hardware.

Custom OIDs

If the built-in library does not cover your device, define custom OIDs:

  • OID path (e.g. .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0 for uptime)

  • Display name

  • Value type (integer, string, counter)

  • Alert thresholds (optional)

SNMP alerts

SNMP metrics can trigger alerts using the same alert policy system as agent-based monitoring. For example, alert when an interface goes down or when bandwidth exceeds a threshold.

Network map

The Network > Map page provides an alternative layout for visualising your network topology. Both views share the same discovered data.
