Email Analytics
The Email Analytics dashboard gives you a comprehensive view of your email performance across all campaigns. It tracks deliverability, engagement, and health metrics over a configurable time window, helping you identify trends, spot problems early, and optimise your email strategy.
Accessing Analytics
Navigate to Insights in the sidebar and open the Email tab to view your email analytics. (The old /email/analytics URL redirects here.)
Time Window
The dashboard operates over a rolling time window. Use the dropdown at the top of the page to select:
7 days: Short-term view for monitoring recent campaign performance.
30 days: Default view. Provides a balanced picture of recent trends.
90 days: Long-term view for identifying patterns and seasonal changes.
All metrics, trend charts, and campaign breakdowns are recalculated based on the selected window.
Summary Metrics
The top of the dashboard shows aggregate counts for the selected time window:
Volume Metrics
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Sent | Total number of emails dispatched across all campaigns. |
| Delivered | Emails confirmed as delivered to the recipient's inbox. |
| Failed | Emails that failed to send (SMTP errors, configuration issues). |
Engagement Metrics
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Opened | Emails opened by the recipient (tracked via an invisible pixel). |
| Clicked | Emails where the recipient clicked at least one link. |
Deliverability Metrics
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Hard bounced | Permanent delivery failures (invalid address, domain does not exist). |
| Soft bounced | Temporary delivery failures (mailbox full, server temporarily unavailable). |
| Complained | Recipients who marked your email as spam. |
Rate Calculations
Below the summary counts, the dashboard displays calculated rates:
| Rate | Calculation | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery rate | Delivered / Sent | What percentage of emails actually reached the inbox. Target: 95%+. |
| Open rate | Opened / Delivered | What percentage of delivered emails were opened. Industry average: 15-25%. |
| Click rate | Clicked / Delivered | What percentage of delivered emails generated a click. Industry average: 2-5%. |
| CTOR | Clicked / Opened | Click-to-open rate. Measures how compelling the email content is to people who opened it. |
| Bounce rate | (Hard + Soft bounced) / Sent | What percentage of sends bounced. Target: under 5%. |
| Hard bounce rate | Hard bounced / Sent | Permanent bounce rate. Target: under 2%. |
| Complaint rate | Complained / Sent | Spam complaint rate. Target: under 0.1%. |
| Failure rate | Failed / Sent | What percentage of sends failed entirely. |
Health Indicators
The dashboard highlights potential deliverability problems with warning and critical thresholds:
| Indicator | Warning threshold | Critical threshold | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bounce warning | 5%+ | 10%+ | Review your mailing lists for invalid addresses. Remove contacts that have bounced repeatedly. |
| Complaint warning | 0.1%+ | 0.5%+ | Review your email content and sending practices. High complaint rates can get your domain blocklisted. |
When a health indicator is triggered, a warning banner appears on the dashboard. Take action immediately, sustained high bounce or complaint rates will damage your sender reputation with email providers.
Trend Chart
The trend chart shows daily data points for the selected time window, plotted on a line chart:
Sent (total sends per day)
Opened (opens per day)
Clicked (clicks per day)
Bounced (bounces per day)
Use the trend chart to:
Spot days with unusual spikes or drops in engagement.
Correlate send volume with engagement rates.
Identify if bounce rates are increasing over time.
Track the impact of changes to your email strategy.
Per-Campaign Breakdown
Below the aggregate metrics, the dashboard shows a table of the top 10 campaigns (by recency) within the selected time window. Only campaigns with a status of Sending or Sent are included.
Each campaign row shows:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The campaign name. |
| Subject | The email subject line. |
| Status | Current campaign status (Sending or Sent). |
| Sent at | When the campaign was sent. |
| Total recipients | Number of contacts targeted. |
| Sent | Number of emails dispatched. |
| Opened | Number of opens. |
| Clicked | Number of clicks. |
| Bounced | Number of bounces. |
| Open rate | Opens / Sent as a percentage. |
| Click rate | Clicks / Sent as a percentage. |

Per-Contact Engagement
The Email Logs panel (available on the canvas and at Email > Email Logs) provides per-email tracking. For each email sent, you can see:
Recipient: The contact and email address.
Subject: The subject line sent.
Status: Queued, Sent, Delivered, Bounced, or Failed.
Sent at: When the email was dispatched.
Delivered at: When delivery was confirmed.
Opened at: When the email was first opened (if tracked).
Clicked at: When the first link click occurred (if tracked).
Bounced at: When a bounce was recorded (if applicable).
Bounce type: Hard, Soft, or Complaint (if applicable).
Filtering Logs
The Email Logs panel supports context-based filtering:
When a contact is selected on the canvas, the logs filter to show only emails sent to that contact.
When a company is selected, the logs filter to show emails sent to contacts at that company.
This lets you quickly review the email history for a specific contact or organisation.
Open Tracking
Open tracking works by embedding a tiny invisible pixel (a 1x1 transparent image) in the email body. When the recipient's email client loads images, it requests the pixel from concorbit's tracking server, recording the open event.
Limitations of Open Tracking
Image blocking: Some email clients block images by default. Opens are only recorded when the recipient loads images.
Privacy proxies: Apple Mail Privacy Protection and similar features can pre-fetch images, inflating open counts. Some opens may be machine-generated rather than human.
Plain text: If a recipient reads the email in plain text mode, the tracking pixel is not loaded.
Open tracking provides directional data rather than absolute accuracy. Use it for trend analysis and comparative metrics between campaigns rather than as an exact count.
Click Tracking
Click tracking works by routing links through concorbit's tracking server. When a recipient clicks a link, the tracking server records the click and redirects them to the original URL.
Click tracking is more reliable than open tracking because it requires an intentional action by the recipient.
Bounce Tracking
Bounces are tracked through two mechanisms:
SMTP bounce responses: Immediate rejections from the receiving mail server during the send attempt.
Bounce webhook: Deferred bounce notifications from your SMTP provider, received via a webhook endpoint.
Bounce Types
| Type | Description | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Hard | Permanent failure. Address does not exist or domain is invalid. | Remove the contact's email address. Do not retry. |
| Soft | Temporary failure. Mailbox full, server busy, etc. | May resolve on its own. Retry on next campaign. |
| Complaint | Recipient marked the email as spam. | Contact is automatically suppressed from future sends. |
Exporting Data
Email Logs Export
The email logs page supports exporting log data for external analysis. This is useful for:
Generating deliverability reports for stakeholders.
Auditing email activity for compliance purposes.
Cross-referencing engagement data with external analytics tools.
Campaign Metrics
Campaign-level metrics are visible in the campaign detail view and the analytics dashboard. Use the per-campaign breakdown table to compare performance across campaigns.
Interpreting Your Metrics
Healthy Email Program
A well-maintained email program typically shows:
Delivery rate above 95%
Open rate between 15% and 30%
Click rate between 2% and 5%
Bounce rate below 2%
Complaint rate below 0.05%
Warning Signs
Watch for these patterns:
Declining open rates: Your subject lines may be losing effectiveness, or your audience may be disengaging. Try A/B testing subject lines and pruning inactive subscribers.
High bounce rates: Your mailing lists may contain outdated or invalid addresses. Run a list hygiene pass and remove hard-bounced contacts.
Rising complaint rates: Recipients may not recognise your emails or may not have expected to receive them. Review your opt-in process and make sure your sending identity is clear.
Low click rates despite good open rates: Your email content may not be compelling enough. Review your call-to-action placement, copy, and link relevance.
Sudden drop in delivery rate: Your SMTP provider may be throttling you, or your domain may have been blocklisted. Check your SMTP provider's dashboard and review the bounce log.
Canvas Panels
The Email module provides an Email Analytics canvas panel that shows open rates, click rates, and deliverability totals. When a campaign is selected on the canvas, the analytics panel filters to show metrics for that specific campaign.
The analytics panel is included in the Email Workspace canvas template alongside campaigns, templates, and contacts.
